Rates
In an effort to create opportunities for more equitable access to therapy, while also balancing my own sustainability, I offer services on a sliding scale. At this time, new sliding scale services are only being considered for BIPOC clients.
While a client's income is a factor in considering their fee, other factors may include but are not limited to: mental health insurance, access to employment, disability, chronic illness, immigration/refugee/precarious status, or survivor credit card debt. I do not require proof of income of any kind, and trust that the rate we agree upon is appropriate for your needs at the time we set it. This can be an ongoing conversation.
If you find yourself in a position where you can contribute to a higher amount than originally discussed, this will create more opportunities to open spaces in the lower range of the fee structure. Alternatively, if you find yourself in a position where we need to decrease your amount or regularity of sessions, we can have a conversation about this at any time.
Payment options can be discussed in a free consult, prior to our first session.
Individual Counselling Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and fees range from 100-165$. At this time, my practice is full, but I do keep a waitlist. I would be happy to add your name if you are open to waiting.
Through The Sumac Therapy is an NIHB approved mental healthcare provider.
All payments must be sent day-of, and prior to each session. Fees are in Canadian dollars, and as I am a Registered Social Worker, there is no additional tax. I am set-up to receive e-transfer payments at rae@throughthesumac.ca
Policies
While Through The Sumac Therapy is located in Ottawa, Ontario, I am able to provide services to individuals residing elsewhere throughout the province. At this time I am providing virtual therapy to all clients, and the option of walk-and-talk (mindfulness and nature-based) therapy for those residing in Ottawa.
Appointments will be booked using the JANE online client portal, and receipts will be issued following each session for personal records, or insurance claim purposes.
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required (48 hours notice preferred) for cancellation of a counselling session. If this notice is not given, or if the appointment is missed, the full fee of the session will be invoiced. This policy is in place as there is a high demand for appointments. If you are unable to make your appointment and provide appropriate notice, the opportunity may be available for another client to have a session at that time.
